A.J. Muss is an Olympian, professional race car driver, and survivor of life-threatening trauma who channels his extraordinary journey into purpose-driven advocacy. A former U.S. Alpine Snowboarding Champion and 2018 Winter Olympian, A.J.’s life took a dramatic turn when a post-surgical complication left him in a coma and fighting for his life at age 19. That experience redefined his path—not just in sport, but in service to others.
Today, A.J. speaks openly about the physical and emotional toll of traumatic injury, the mental challenges of elite competition, and the strength it takes to rebuild a life. His story resonates deeply with those facing medical adversity, brain injury, and identity loss, especially among young athletes, veterans, and those navigating invisible recovery.
From snowboarding to motorsport—where he now competes professionally in Imsa sports car. A.J. remains committed to inspiring others through action. Whether mentoring youth athletes or speaking at schools and recovery centers, his message is clear: “Setbacks don’t define you—what you do next does.”
A.J. supports organizations focused on:
• Traumatic brain injury (TBI) recovery & awareness
• Mental health for athletes and young adults
• Resilience-building in youth through sport and education
• Adaptive athletics and post-trauma physical reengagement
Through every chapter of his evolving career, A.J. brings humility, courage, and the belief that every life challenge can spark a new kind of purpose
